The Lion, the Witch, and the War Hero: Or Is McCain Able?

If you're old enough to remember the post-convention presidential campaign between Michael Dukakis and pere Bush, you can recall how a seemingly can't-miss candidate can be brought down by a fangs-bared campaign of savage ridicule and schoolyard character assassination. (And if you are indeed old enough to remember it, you might want to sit down and rest for a minute. I'm just saying.) The Brave New Workshop's election-season show is running right up to the final Obama-McCain showdown, and it's a sharp, funny, knowing satire that manages to lampoon the selection of our next national leader while maintaining an understanding that what happens between now and November is very serious business indeed. Amid the songs and general scathing take on things is a nightly news segment based on the events of the day, or the week—a real old-school response to what's going on beyond the Workshop doors—and a chance for this young cast to keep things lively and up-to-the-minute.
