Assuming that you know for a fact that not one of the contributors aren't either a person of color or woman cartoonist, could you possibly conceive that maybe not a single person of color or woman cartoonist submitted anything? *gasp*

They're in the pocket of "The Man" and Dick Cheney was there making sure no one without Big Oil connections was selected. We should demand that CityPages hold a "Person of Color and Women Cartoonist Only Comix Issue", and no one will be turned down, as that'd be hateful and someone's self-esteem might be damaged beyond all hope of recovery, in which case, CP oughta pay for the therapy.... blah blah blah..." sheesh. What a bunch of s#it! No comment on the comics that WERE selected? What, you just policing around looking for something to be an assholio about? Ach, I can't stand it.

kane -- you are mistaken. i know many of these cartoonists personally. i know for a fact that at least two of them are female. however, i am NOT certain which ethnicities are represented.

@ netta: Why should CP have gone in search of her? She was free to submit cartoons just like everyone else, I'm quite certain. CP put a call out, some answered. Some didn't. I know several local artists who would've had a bit of something to say as well about the RNC convention, but they weren't specifically sought out by CP. Who gives two sticks whether RRJ is in it or not? How does she rate any different than anyone else? See if you can comprehend this possibility: maybe she DID submit, and didn't make the cut? @ K whats with the animosity, I'm a local cartoonist too and I've met with Ratchet, and we were both sad that we didn't even know about the city pages call for submissions.
I'm even subscribed to the newsletter.
I think you just don't understand the subtlty and syntax of commment writing. So I'd suggest a cup of tea and lay down take a yoga class. What I gathered from her comment was that it would have been cool if ratchet was in the city pages. It would've been cool if I was in the City pages and I'm sure it would've been cool if you were in the City Pages...showing off your oh so civilised commenting skills no doubt. Thats it. sheesh indeed K-ermit.

Animosity? Impatience, maybe, but animosity, no. Brenda, netta said "It would be nice if you guys [by this I gather she means CP] had bothered to find a Female local artist..." which in all its subtlety seems to mean "Why didn't you guys bother to contact a specific female artist and ask them personally to contribute.", especially when you take netta's full comment in context. THAT'S what I was responding to, and the silly assumption that there were no female contributors (or people of color). So when I say "Who gives two sticks whether RRJ is in it or not?" my intent was not to make a personal slight. A call was put out for submissions. People getting upset over the assumed exclusion of women or that specific people missed out on the call is what I'm addressing. Civilized commenting skills. OK. Whatever. It's nice to see the cartoonists coming out in full force. One of the things I miss about living in the Twin Cities is the great comics community out there.

Not so crazy about being accused of branding people and burning others at the stake while indulging in my perversions and ignorance (thanks, Derf). I'm sure my fellow Evangelicals will hang their collective heads in shame after such a righteous bashing. After all, what's a Twin Cities political expression without at least one absurdly over-the-top, deeply insulting exercise in hatemongery?
