Stevie Ray's Improv Company: Improv in the Park
Published on June 18, 2008
Picnics and comedy performances both make for great dates, and the ultimate cheap date awaits you at the Lake Harriet Rose Garden. That's where Stevie Ray's Improv Company continues its summertime tradition of Improv in the Park. Stevie Ray and his crew of master quick-thinkers perform two free shows every Sunday through the end of August. This is the 17th year the lawn-chaired, picnic eating masses have been treated to the finest of Twin Cities improvisational humor, and with an estimated 49,000 amused audience members in its run, clearly the formula of humor, outdoor performance, and free admission is one that works. Stevie Ray's Improv has cornered the market on improv in the Twin Cities for several years, in addition to the group's work with corporate entertainment and public speaking workshops. If you're allergic to grass, or just plain hate being outdoors, the improv company performs indoors at their comedy school in Bloomington every Friday and Saturday night.
Sundays, 5 & 7 p.m. Starts: June 1. Continues through Aug. 31, 2008
