Grand Celebration Powwow

In one of the largest powwows in the area, for three days hundreds of Native American dancers of all ages will dance in a variety of styles, some performed in full-out traditional dress. Seventeen separate dances will be exhibited and judged, and range from the intriguing Women's Traditional Jingle, to the potentially silly Chicken Dance, to the country western-sounding Old Style Sidestep. Also included in the event are singing and music competitions, opening ceremonies, food, and an arts and crafts show to visit between performances. Camping will also be available. Thousands are expected to attend this free, colorful, family-friendly event. Competitions begin at 7 p.m. Friday; 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday through Sunday.
