We all know that summer is full of topless guys jogging, dangerously low cleavage, and skimpy swimsuits, but sometimes, thanks to rain, lack of a fitness regimen during the winter months, and Peeps and Cadbury chocolate eggs, spring just isn't very sexy. Enter the fifth year of Sexy Spring, a festival that strives to put the erotic "spring" back into your walk, so to speak. Taking place mostly on the U of M campus at Blegen Hall, Sexy Spring features a handful of lectures and workshops for the adventurous, the knowledge-seeking, and even the timid-yet-curious people out there. Workshops include topics that may appeal to the shy (tips on talking to strangers), those with special needs (dating with disabilities), and, of course, the randy (lessons in making your own sex toys, whip play for beginners, and women's erotica writing workshops). Looking for something timely? Check out the "politics of stripping" or the "safe sex during the RNC" chats. Saturday night features Fairy Tales Cabaret, a night of spoken word, drag, dance, music, and film at Intermedia Arts, with local artists Heidi Arneson, Venus DeMars, Kats Fukasawa, and Dr. Jacky Wackensmack and Dollface, among many others. You'll be ready for a summer of love in no time. Free; sliding scale or suggested donation for some events. Call 612.435.5490 or go to
