Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater: The Ends of Love

This month we get a double dose of the always inspiring Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater; a two week run featuring a national premiere and a repertory favorite. This weekend SPDT unveils "Ways to Be Hold," a new work examining the emotional polarities that exist in troubled times. Can we overcome fear and give in to love? Can a caress feel more like a restraint? What human simplicity can we find in the midst of so many complications? Pimsler and his performers are so skilled at finding fresh perspectives in response to these and other questions; they dance expertly along the fine edge between happiness and pain, always revealing something new about relationships that we may never have encountered before. Next week, the company will present "The Ends of Love," which premiered to sold-out houses at the Guthrie Theater last year. The work begins with certain premises about love, but quickly shatters them. Loneliness and lust coexist with antic relationship drama, set to Michelle Kinney's magical score. Watching both of these shows may not bring you any closer to answering your own questions about amore, but you will certainly have plenty of opportunity to enjoy the journey, and recognize your own experiences along the way. "Ways to Be Hold" runs March 20 through 23; "The Ends of Love" runs March 28 through 30.
