The Underpants

By Quinton Skinner

Workhouse Theatre continues its mission of bringing solid theater to north Minneapolis with Steve Martin's comic take on Carl Sternheim's 1910 farce (I prefer the Steve Martin of Pennies from Heaven to the Steve Martin of Father of the Bride, though a staunch Dadaist might feel otherwise). It depicts a woman named Louise, whose underwear has an unruly habit of ending up around her ankles when she is otherwise harmlessly occupied in public; this involuntary proclivity earns her a share of fame in town, especially when she and her husband rent out a room in their home and encounter a deluge of male applicants. Expect the proceedings to be fast-paced and extremely silly.
Fridays, Saturdays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Feb. 8. Continues through Feb. 23, 2008
