Seventh Annual Political Theatre Festival
You can crack open a bottle of wine and dispute all night whether all art is political (really, go ahead. I won't stop you), but the argument is well and fully settled in the case of the seventh annual Political Theatre Festival. Presented in collaboration with Intermedia Arts in association with the U of M and the Resource Center of the Americas, Teatro del Pueblo brings to the stage works by Latino playwrights that explore the politics of identity. This year's slate includes Hurricane in a Glass by Kimberly del Busto, The Great All-Dominican Championship Playoff Game by Rubin Rice Lichtig, Out of Cordoba by Hector Roberts, Variation on Mixed Generations by Eric Silva Brenneman, and For Mi ChiChi by Tere Martinez. Also on tap are two premiere interactive plays by Dominic Orlando, as well as a dance/performance piece by Colombian outfit Rapsoda.
