Zhauna Franks's Dream Channel

Choreographer Zhauna Franks has come up with a way for us to dream with our eyes open, a treat for all who are growing weary of the long winter nights. Her second full-evening production (the first was 2004 Fringe fave Beauty and the Beast) focuses on the surreal, bizarre, hilarious, and occasionally deranged realm of subconscious logic. Within this intimate world, all of our hopes and darkest secrets come to life, at least temporarily, and manifest themselves in the most unexpected ways. Franks, a member of the Ballet of the Dolls for over two decades who now splits her time between New York and Minneapolis, is adept at weaving this rich material with equal parts sophistication and sass, and her cast—including Kevin McCormick, Michael deLeon, Stephanie Fellner, Lisa Conlin, Joel Klausler, and Stephanie Karr—are fierce yet stylish technicians. Sweet dreams are made of this, indeed.
