Ian Bagg

It's no coincidence that the words one would use to describe hockey could also be applied to the material of comedian Ian Bagg. "Basically, my show is controlled chaos. I like to have a conversation with the audience, so you don't know where the show's going to end up. I have prepared material but that's basically markers; I have to hit certain points." Always a fan of comedy, the Terrace, British Columbia, native decided early on that he probably wouldn't make a living at his other passion. "I'm a huge hockey fan," he confesses. "I really wanted to be a pro hockey player. I went to a couple of camps and got beaten up quite brutally, and said, 'Nope, I wanna be a comedian.'" Onstage Bagg talks about current events, but not necessarily the big stories. "A lot of my stuff is current events that I let my cartoon mind go wild with, anything that teases people. I think comedy should be like a Christmas dinner: Have fun and tease each other. But I'm not saying my show's just for Christians!"
