Labor Day Weekend Celebration

By Rhena Tantisunthorn

Published on August 29, 2007

Few children who have grown up in the western world have not at least once fantasized about hiding out in the woods with a band of merry men, assaulting wealthy passersby, distributing the loot, and becoming a hero to crowds of grateful poor people. Shades of Sherwood Family Camping Park offers the chance to live out such a scenario minus the assaults, the loot, and the grateful poor people. The campgrounds are located on the banks of the Zumbro River, and, in addition to the camping facilities (laundry, bathhouses, picnic tables, fire pits) offer tubing, mini-golf, pedal carts, kiddie train rides, horseshoes, and playgrounds. The Labor Day weekend camping extravaganza also features a sand volleyball tournament, karaoke, crafts, and games. Sorry, still no looting allowed. For those in an RV, honey wagon services are also available. For more info check out www.shadesofsherwood.com.
Mondays, Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Aug. 31. Continues through Sept. 3
